CONSUMER PRICE INDICES AND INFLATION RATES FOR MARCH 2022

The overall year on year inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 5.56 per cent, in March 2022. The rise in inflation was mainly due to an increase in prices of commodities under; food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.92 per cent); furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (6.44 per cent); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (4.91 per cent); and transport (3.66 per cent) between March 2021 and March 2022, as presented in Tables 1 and 2.

Financial Inclusion in Kenya Research Paper Competition

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Financial Sector Deepening Kenya, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are collaborating to launch a Research Paper Competition on the topic of Financial Inclusion in Kenya. With the recent launch of the 2021 FinAccess survey, we see this competition as a way to encourage use of the FinAccess data for research. Read More
