The overall year on year inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 5.73 per cent, in December 2021. This was mainly due to an increase in prices of commodities under; food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.09%); transport (8.10%); and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (6.24%) between December 2020 and December 2021, as presented in Tables 1 and 2.
