The CPI increased by 0.08 per cent from 108.27 in June 2020 to 108.35 in July 2020. The overall year on year inflation in July 2020 stood at 4.36 per cent.
The Government through the Department of Children Services in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics conducted a national survey that measured the prevalence, nature and consequences of physical, emotional and sexual violence against children in Kenya in 2019.
The Violence against Children (VAC) Survey was a national household survey targeting females and males aged 13-24 years and heads of households with females and males aged 13-24 years. HIV testing and counseling was offered to those aged 15-24 years by trained counselors based on national testing algorithm. According to the survey, 62.6 percent of females experienced multiple incidences of sexual violence in childhood.
Violence against Children is significantly rampant in Kenya and a serious public health, human rights and social problem. The consequences of violence on its survivors are often devastating, causing negative outcomes associated with physical health, social mobility, success and mental health.
