CONSUMER PRICE INDICES AND INFLATION RATES FOR APRIL 2022

The overall year on year inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 6.47 per cent in April 2022. The rise in inflation was mainly due to an increase in prices of commodities under; food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.15 per cent); furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (7.15 per cent); transport (6.88 per cent) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (5.47 per cent) between April 2021 and April 2022, as presented in Tables 1 and 2.
