Consumer Price Indices and Inflation Rates-September 2006

Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.6 per cent from 200.9 points in August 2006 to 204.2 points in September 2006. Month-on-month overall inflation rate accelerated from 11.5 per cent in August 2006 to 13.8 per cent in September 2006. On the other hand, month-on-month underlying
nflation rate which excludes food items from the CPI basket declined from 6.0 per cent to 5.7per cent.
