Overview

Gender statistics form the backbone of evidence based policymaking, enabling government institutions and partners to identify inequalities, design targeted interventions, and monitor progress toward national and global commitments on gender equality. The Gender Sector Statistics Plan (GSSP) 2024–2028 provides a coherent and forward looking framework that strengthens the collection, analysis, dissemination, and utilization of sex disaggregated data across all sectors. This Plan reinforces Kenya’s dedication to fostering an inclusive society in which the contributions, opportunities, and needs of women, men, girls, and boys are fully recognized and addressed. Anchored in the aspirations of Kenya’s Vision 2030, the Fourth Medium Term Plan, and aligned with global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals, the Beijing Platform for Action, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the GSSP charts a strategic pathway for strengthening gender data systems. It addresses critical gaps in quality gender data production and uptake and highlights the need for sustained capacity building, strengthened institutional coordination, greater investment in gender responsive statistical systems and infrastructure.
