Overview
The 2025 National Census of Street Families builds up on the first ever Street Families Census carried out in 2018. This report gives a detailed picture of the current situation of street families across the Country. The main objective of the Census was to provide data and information on the population of Street Families in our Country. The specific objectives were to establish the magnitude and demographic characteristics of street families in Kenya; identify the causal, push and pull factors, the lifestyle in the country including economic activities and the family structure and relationships. The census further sort to establish the gender distribution, roles and migration patterns among other critical information like health and education which are essential in the government of Kenya’s commitment to implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) Vision 2030 and the principle of Leaving No One Behind. Furthermore, the Census exercise is driven by the spirit of the implementation of the Bill of Rights as provided for under the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
