The Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) is a modular survey under the Kenya Continuous Household Survey Programme (KCHSP). The programme is designed to provide a constant stream of data on a wide range of socio-economic indicators. The QLFS collects information about the Kenyan labour market activities for the population aged 5 years and above.

This quarterly release analyses the labour market situation for the population aged 15 to 64 years. Topics covered include labour force participation, employment, unemployment, Labour underutilization and inactivity.

This report presents the results for the period September to December 2019.

Producer Price Index Third Quarter 2018

Kenya National Bureau of Statistics hereby releases the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the third quarter of 2018.  Producer Price Index measures the gross changes in the trading price of products on the domestic and non-domestic markets, at all stages of processing.

The price changes are measured from the perspective of the producer. The producer prices are collected as at 15th February, 15th May, 15th August and 15th November of the year. These dates correspond to the first, second, third and fourth quarters of the year, respectively.

The Producer Price Indices are grouped according to the International Standards of Industrial Classifications of All Economic Activities (ISIC) . The third quarter year on year overall producer inflation was 0.37 per cent in September 2018 compared to 5.46 per cent recorded in September 2017.Producer Price Index Third Quarter 2018

Leading Economic Indicator June 2018

The Leading Economic Indicators highlights trends in Consumer Price Indices (CPI) and inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, international trade, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, building and construction, tour-ism and transport.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased from 195.05 points in May 2018 to 193.31 points in June 2018. The overall rate of in-flation rose from 3.95 per cent to 4.28 per cent during the same period. In June 2018, the Kenyan Shilling appreciated against the major trading currencies except for the US Dollar and the Japanese Yen. The average yield rate for the 91-day Treasury bills, which is a benchmark for the general trend of interest rates decreased slightly from 7.96 per cent in May 2018 to 7.23 per cent in June 2018, while the inter-bank rate rose from 4.93 per cent in May 2018 to 5.03 per cent in June 2018.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) 20 share index decreased from 3,333 points in May 2018 to 3,286 points in June 2018, while the total number of shares traded dropped from 677 million shares to 453 million shares during the same period. The total value of NSE shares traded decreased from KSh 18.38 billion in May 2018 to KSh 13.69 billion in June 2018.
Broad money supply (M3), a key indicator for monetary policy formulation, increased from KSh 3,122.37 bil-lion in May 2018 to KSh 3,242.94 billion in June 2018. Gross Foreign Exchange Reserves increased from KSh 1,210.28 billion in May 2018 to KSh 1,221.83 billion in June 2018. Net Foreign Exchange Reserves in-creased from KSh 726.45 billion in May 2018 to KSh 760.51 billion in June 2018.

ADDENDUM NOTICE

After the pre-bid conference that took place on Wednesday 28th March, 2018 at Real Towers- Upper hill area Nairobi, KNBS wishes to extend the tender closing and opening date to enable give interested tenderers adequate time to respond to concerns raised during the pre-bid conference. Eligible Tenderers are therefore requested to obtain further information and download the respective addendums from the KNBS website; www.knbs.or.ke under “Tenders” portal. Further, submission deadline for all the tenders has been extended to 13th April, 2018 at 10:00am instead of 3rd April, 2018 as previously stated.

 

NB: Kindly note that other information in the tender document remains the same. Proposed drawings will be uploaded in the website together with the respective addendums.
