Food and non-alcoholic drink index rose by 1.79 per cent in April 2004 compared to March 2004. This was mainly as a result of increase in the price of maize grain, onions and tomatoes.
The Transport and Communication index rose marginally in April 2004 on account of small price rises in petrol and automotive diesel.
